Area and Vacations
Tuscany's splendid historical cities famous throughout the world, the charm of the Tuscan and Ligurian coastal landscapes and the enchanting scenery of the Garfagnana and Lunigiana: a stay in Forte dei Marmi, at Hotel Logos, is perfect in any season for completely experiencing a vacation in Versilia and its surroundings.
Natural parks and reserves
The park entrance is in Seravezza, a small town 6 kilometers from Hotel Logos. The natural scenery is unique: ultra green forests dotted with white marble quarries, with the blue sea always on the horizon.
San Rossore Park
Thirty kilometers from Hotel Logos lies the Park of Migliarino, San Rossore, and Massaciuccoli, which protects the environment and characteristics of the coast. The San Rossore Estate is not to be missed. Once the Medici hunting reserve in the 16th century, then summer residence of the Savoys and later Italy's president, it is best visited on foot, by bike or horse-drawn buggy.
Cinque Terre
The Cinque Terre, the land and sea of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are less than a hour's drive away. They can be visited on foot, hiking the scenic trails in the park, including the wonderful Via dell'Amore, or by boat to enjoy their beauty from the sea.
Historical cities
- The following are located around an hour away by car, perfect for a half or full day trip:
- Pietrasanta is a loverly Medieval town, capital of marble sculpting, and is located 10 minutes by car from the hotel. Among the Art Nouveau villas in the woods, stands the splendid "Versiliana", which hosts a famous Festival in its gardens.
- Lucca and its historic center are just a half hour away by car. Hometown of the composer Giacomo Puccini, the lovely 15th century walls are practically intact, and enclose the center with the Roman amphitheater which the main square is named after, the Romanesque cathedral home to the beautiful Tomb of Ilaria del Carretto and the famous Torre dei Guinigi, crowned by an oak.
- Pisa and its historic center are just a half hour away by car. Piazza dei Miracoli, with its Cathedral, Baptistry, Belltower and Camposanto cemetery, incomparable architecture in white marble, is one of the most beautiful spots in Tuscany and the world, absolutely not to be missed during a vacation in Versilia.
- Massa and Carrara are the charming cities of marble. Massa is dominated by the Renaissance Cybo Malaspina Castle which still stands above the city, and Carrara, the marble capital, contains another 16th century castle owned by the Cybo Malaspina family. Just outside the cities, the ultra white quarries should be visited, where Michelangelo selected the marble for his masterpieces.
- Florence, Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano, the traditional tourism destinations, can be reached from Hotel Logos in little more than an hour by car: it is well worth driving to them just to see the pretty hills and scenery, which make Tuscany one of the most beautiful spots in Italy and the world.
